Featured Artist: David K. John
Diné Painter and Sculptor
We feel privileged that Dine’ painter and sculptor David K John authorized us to share his Yei artwork with you—it is an honor to do so.
David has art degrees from the Institute of American Indian Arts and Southern Utah University. His paintings and sculptures began earning awards as early as 1993 and have continued ever since, with ‘best in show’ and ‘1st place’ awards in prestigious shows including the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial, Eight Northern Pueblos Art Show, Museum of No. Arizona Show, and Santa Fe Indian Market! In discussing his Yei art, David has said. "I must be careful with these symbols and the sacred information I draw inspiration from. My paintings are my own vision. And because so much is being lost with the passing of the older generations, I believe it is the role of the artist to communicate and teach the next generation. I try to do this through my paintings.”
For us, his Yei paintings and sculptures are exceptional, awe-inspiring art that ‘move’ and delight us. Each day his awesome art graces our home it brings us joy, smiles and a healing spirit. We hope you also experience that.
THANK YOU DAVID, for ‘gifting’ the world with your spirit, your vision, and your superb art!
